Tea Bag Case Study

Rose Forgrove Supplies Machines to Award Winning Clipper Teas

Multiple award winning family business Clipper Teas Ltd. based in Beaminster, Dorset recently installed one of Rose Forgrove’s Merlin Flowpak™ flowrappers to pack its speciality, own brand of fruit and herbal infusion tea bags into foil pillow packs ready for the final carton packaging process.

Replacing an existing machine, Rose Forgrove’s Merlin has enabled Clipper Teas to increase output three-fold. Furthermore the Merlin’s ability to produce a ‘compact’ pack, reducing the finished pack length from 210mm to 180mm, has dramatically reduced the occurrence of bottlenecks at the end-of-line cartoner, not to mention the every day savings being made on material costs.

The ability to offer a special infeed conveyor which provides full synchronisation with an Ima C50 tea bag making machine - allowing bags to travel into the flowrapper, with no external intervention - whilst also maintaining productivity and efficiency, played an important part in Rose Forgrove installing its machinery in this prestigious plant.

A spokesperson from Clipper said, "The Merlin ran smoothly as soon as it was installed. It does exactly what we wanted, and our staff have become familiar with it very quickly. It is helping us make huge savings every day in terms of change-over times, which is a fantastic result." Since installation, Rose-Forgrove have assisted with infeed refinements, introducing a product vibratory unit to manufacture narrower and more consistent packs.
